Pocketfront ("Pocketfront," "we," "us," or "our") provides a hosted, phone-editable website service for local businesses in Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal information, and the rights you have. It is written to meet Canada's federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Who We Are and Who This Covers

This policy covers personal information about (a) our customers and account holders, and (b) people who contact us. Separately, our customers use Pocketfront to run their own websites. Where a customer's website collects information from its own visitors (for example, through a contact or booking form), the customer — not Pocketfront — decides why that information is collected and is responsible for it; we process that visitor information only on the customer's behalf and on their instructions. If you submitted information to a business's website, contact that business about it.

2. What Personal Information We Collect, and Why

We collect only what we need to provide the Service:

• Account information — your name, business name, email address, and phone number. We use this to create and manage your account, provide support, and communicate with you.
• Payment information — billing details, processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full credit-card numbers. We use this to bill your subscription and any domain fees.
• Domain-registration details — the information needed to register and manage your custom domain (which is registered in your own name).
• Content you upload — the text, images, prices, and other material you publish through the Service. We use this to host and display your website.
• Technical and usage data — basic information such as log data, device and browser information, and how you use the Service. We use this to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to: create and run your account and website; process payments; register and manage your domain; provide customer support; keep the Service secure and prevent fraud or abuse; comply with our legal and tax obligations; and, where you have consented, send you product updates or marketing.

We rely on your consent, on the need to perform our contract with you, and on our legitimate business interests, as permitted by PIPEDA.

4. How We Share Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• With service providers who help us run Pocketfront — including Stripe (payment processing), our hosting and content-delivery providers, our domain registrar, and our email provider — and only as needed to operate the Service; and
• Where required or permitted by law — for example, to comply with a court order, legal process, or regulatory demand, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public; or
• In a business transfer — if Pocketfront is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

Some of our service providers may store or process personal information outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, the information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, and we use providers that protect it to a comparable standard.

5. How We Protect Personal Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — such as encryption in transit and access controls — to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. How Long We Keep Personal Information

We keep account and website content for as long as your subscription is active, and then delete it on a schedule after your account closes (generally an export window of up to 30 days, after which content may be permanently deleted). We keep billing and tax records for as long as the law requires (generally about seven years). We keep marketing-consent records as required by law. We retain other personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or to meet legal obligations.

7. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• Withdraw consent to a use of your information, or unsubscribe from marketing, at any time (this may affect our ability to provide some features); and
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to information we must keep by law.

To make a request, email privacy@pocketfront.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

8. Electronic Messages (CASL)

When you create an account, you consent to receive service and account messages from us (such as billing and security notices), which are necessary to operate the Service. We will send you marketing messages only where you have consented or are otherwise permitted under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing message identifies us, includes our contact information, and includes a working unsubscribe link, which we honour promptly.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, secure the Service, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

10. Children

The Service is for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give you reasonable notice by email or through your account.
